OK Humane Place

I noticed a Facebook status update from the Ok Humane Place Spay & Neuter Clinic page a few days ago. They recently celebrated an exciting accomplishment that I simply had to share. The OK Humane Place Spay & Neuter Clinic set a new record for their highest number of animals spayed and neutered in a month! In March of 2011 they spayed and neutered 876 animals!

When grappling with a widespread problem such as animal overpopulation, the stats can be daunting. Unfortunately, more than 17,000 dogs & cats are euthanized in Oklahoma City Animal Shelter every year simply because there are not enough homes.
Their website, okhumaneplace.org states:
Our clinic is open to anyone needing access to spay/neuter services, as well as ALL rescue groups. However, our goal is to perform surgeries that would otherwise have not been done. So if you have a relationship with a private-practice veterinarian, we encourage you to take your pet there. This frees up valuable surgery appointments for those pets at the most risk for having litters of puppies & kittens.

The Ok Humane Place Spay & Neuter Clinic has set a new goal to spay & neuter 1000 animals in one month. Can you help them? Come by the Clinic and pick up flyers to help spread the word about the Clinic’s services.

❤Fiona❤

I mistakenly reported on February 25th that Fiona was adopted, but just discovered that she is still available for adoption. She plays well with dogs and cats, making her a fantastic addition to any home. Fiona is a an absolute sweetheart that you are guaranteed to love!

Pet ID #12314374
Click Here for Fiona's Animal Details

Fiona is a delightful 4-year-old Whippet/Labrador Retriever. She is a charming, beautiful animal, and loves to play with anyone she encounters. Her enthusiasm makes it absolutely impossible not to fall head-over-heels in love with her. She greets everyone that enters her room at the Central Oklahoma Humane Society with equal joy. Clearly, this dog is always eager to make new friends.

Fiona soaks up and retains instruction like a sponge. Some of the tricks in Fiona’s extensive repertoire are sit, lie down, stay, etc. Her eyes sparkle with intelligence, and she has shown an aptitude for obedience training.

Fiona is such a clever dog, and her potential is limitless. She is highly compatible with cats, dogs, and children. Fiona lives to please people. She genuinely enjoys interacting with other dogs, and had fun playing with her roommate, Phoenix.

If you are interested in Fiona, please call the Central Oklahoma Humane Society at 405.286.1229, Ext. 4 to meet her today! Her pet ID # is 12314374.

Wish List

I am happy to inform you all that Fiona has been adopted by a wonderful family!

Thanks to everyone who went to the OK Humane Society to meet my new friends. Special thanks to those of you who have adopted these awesome animals! It gives me such joy to know that these darling dogs have finally found what the Society calls their "forever homes."

For those of you who would like to help the Humane Society, but are unable to adopt a pet because of rental agreements, work/school schedules, etc., I have a simple solution.
The Humane Society is a non-profit organization. They receive no government funding and rely exclusively on private donations to fund all of their lifesaving programs. The Society has extremely practical needs, and donating a few household items is a wonderful way to help this noble organization.

The three main things they always need are:

1. Laundry detergent
2. Paper towels
3. Bleach
If they got all 3 of these items donated, they could save thousands of dollars every year!
To check out the complete wish list click HERE.

The goal of my blog is to provide a voice for these amazing dogs, and show off their personalities. Thanks for falling in love with them, too. On behalf of all the OK Humane dogs, cats, and volunteers, thank you for generous your donations!

Join me this week as I introduce you to Midas. He is such a well-trained sweetheart!!!
